Syllabi and Teacher Planners
Mother of Divine Grace School recommends Laura Berquist's syllabi (which contain detailed daily lesson plans) for
Kindergarten through 12th Grade.
Mother of Divine Grace School no longer sells these syllabi directly to families, but they can be purchased from a
number of suppliers. Emmanuel
Books carries most of the syllabi and the books which Mother of Divine Grace School recommends.
Note: Since 2003 the Mother of Divine Grace School syllabi have been listed under their initial or revised
copyright dates, but have had a new "Printed in" date issued each year. This date was designed to distinguish
between syllabi of varying years thereby improving consultant-family dialogue regarding the syllabi. Every syllabus
received a new "Printed in" date each year, regardless of changes, so many syllabi often received a new "Printed
in" date even though there had been no changes to the syllabus that year. In order to help families and to better
communicate changes in the syllabi, Laura Berquist will be changing her copyright notation system. Going forward, starting
with the current 2008 syllabi, when Laura issues a new version of a syllabus it will be listed under a new copyright
year, for example © 2008. Laura Berquist will only change the copyright date of a syllabus when changes have been
made to that syllabus. Thus, the 2008 copyright date may stand for many years as the newest version, as long as no
changes have been made to the syllabus. When a new copyright edition of a syllabus becomes available we will note that
here on our website and will include a list of any changes, other than typographic changes that have been made since
the previous copyright year version. Families will be able to use this list to see what, if any, changes have been
made to a syllabus. These changes will be noted here on our website (on the individual syllabus page) so that families
can see the scope and extent of the changes. Thus the most recent edition of every syllabus, along with a summary of
changes will always be listed on this website.
Note from Laura: The summary of changes (if any) are posted on each syllabus page to help you decide
when and whether you need a new syllabus. We know that many of you already own syllabi. If the changes posted here
are minor, you can continue to use the syllabus you currently have, or purchase an older copyright edition, with no
difficulty. If you like, you can actually update your existing syllabus using the notes posted here. When there is
a major change, such as a change in the primary text recommendation, or substantial time frame recommendations, or
when we make a substantial improvement to the syllabus, such as adding grading charts, or daily quizzes, you might
want to purchase the new syllabus. Please remember that often changes are made in the syllabus because texts we used
have gone out of print. If you have an older syllabus and already own the texts corresponding to that syllabus, there
is no need for you to purchase a new syllabus. When a change is made to a syllabus because the new text is substantially
better, not just because the old text is unavailable, I will let you know here.
